THE NEXT EVENT AT THE KRISHNAMURTI EDUCATION CENTER IN OJAI
Saturdays, June 6 through 27, 2009, from 7 to 9 pm Krishnamurti Dialogue Series - “Spontaneity: is it possible to have a spontaneous and meaningful dialogue?” Can we be looking inside and relating outside at the same time, both sharing with others and learning inwardly?
John Duncan will host a series of four weekly dialogue meetings on Saturday evenings, June 6 - 27, from 7 pm to 9 pm. Donation: $7 per meeting. Location: Krishnamurti Education Center, 1098 McAndrew Road, Ojai. Call 646-2390, or visit www.kfa.org
TIME OUT?
If you’re living too far away to drive home afterwards, consider staying the night at the newly renovated Oak Grove Retreat (rate includes the Saturday night dialogue). We hope people will increasingly take advantage of the peaceful atmosphere of the Retreat, the beauty of the surrounding countryside and mountains, and the advantage of meeting with each other for a dialogue, set in Krishnamurti’s former home in Pine Cottage, next door to the Retreat. Just one or two nights out of the momentum of daily living can be very restorative. To see photos of the grounds and rooms, visit www.oakgroveretreat.com

KRISHNAMURTI ON HARMONY
Excerpt from “Discussions With Krishnamurti In Europe 1966 (Authentic Report) Rome-Saanen” Fourth Dialogue in Saanen, 1966
Krishnamurti: You say that the more we know, the more harmony there will be. We know a great deal. We have lived for two million years. There have been fifteen thousand wars in the last few thousand years, yet we know we mustn't kill each other. We know how ridiculous it is to divide ourselves into French, German, English, whatever it is. We also know how to invent new gadgets and go to the moon. We know so much, and yet we are not harmonious.
Look at your problem. You are confused. Don't invent that there is harmony, that angels hover over you to protect you. You know, the circus. If you cut out all that, as you must, you're faced with the fact that the scientist creates disharmony; the politician, you in your office, the businessman, the army, the navy, the flier - everyone is adding, adding, adding to it, each contradicting the other, each saying that you must do this and you must not do that. There have been Mussolinis, Hitlers, Churchills, all telling us what to do. You know all this. What will you do? Will you invent some more beliefs, join some more organizations, follow a new leader? If you are aware, what will you do?
Comment: I will throw the whole lot overboard and get on with my own life.
Krishnamurti: Your own life is related to every other life; you can't just throw them all overboard. I see clearly the futility of analysis. I see that it is absurd to try to discover the cause. I know what the causes are: my fear, my demand for protection, the beliefs which I have - my country is bigger, nobler than your country, my leader is more perfect than your leader, there is only one savior, and there is only one God - fighting, fighting, fighting. I'm part of it all. My right hand does something which my left hand doesn't know, and my left hand does something which my right hand doesn't know, like the scientists, like the politicians, like the priests, because they all have beliefs. They start from a conclusion. I see all of this, of which I am a part; and I also see it is a waste of time to analyze through the symptoms. Therefore I say to myself, ``What am I to do?''
I have been through all this rigmarole. Personally I haven't, but I have seen people go from one church to another, from politics to no-politics, to communism and then get rid of communism - through one mess after another, through life for forty years. Is there a different way of approach? Is there a different way of looking at all this, a way which is total, not fragmentary? All thinking is fragmentary: my country, my God opposed to your God. Thinking in any form must be fragmentary. I have looked at everything in fragments: God in heaven, hell on earth; businessmen making money, concerned with new buildings, and destroying Vietnam; organized religions seeking power, position, converting more people to make the religions more popular; people starving, and people dividing themselves into countries, into races. All that is fragmentary. I say to myself, "That is not the way to understand confusion - through fragments.'' Thought cannot resolve the confusion because thought has bred confusion.
Comment: My thoughts are the opposite of my feelings.
Krishnamurti: Don't say that thoughts are the opposite of feelings; feelings are a part of your thoughts. We can't separate them. We seem unable to look at anything totally. We look at things fragmentarily; we consider things through thought; and thought in essence breeds confusion. The real function of any politician or any human being is to bring about the unity of mankind, not English mankind or French or German, but the whole of mankind; not the East and the West and the South and the North. These are the inventions of a mind which is fragmentary, and this fragmentation is the result of thinking. Thinking in itself is fragmentary and will not solve this problem. When it tries to resolve the problem, thought will only create more fragments which will create more confusion.
Can you look at this whole problem: the church and the religions talking about goodness, God; the businessman, the scientist breeding children and then sending them to war, destroying their own flesh and blood? Can you throw all that overboard, all of it, not through thinking, not because someone tells you to do it? You see that thinking has produced the contradictions, the divisions, the confusion, and so you say, "Out! I don't belong to anything. I do not commit myself to anything.'' Are you in that position? Can you honestly say that you are not committed to anything, to any formula, to any religion, to any priest, the priests not only in Rome, in Canterbury, or in Banaras, but in Moscow or in the Labor Party? (Laughter) They're all priests. You are committed to your family, to your country, to a particular form of belief, to a particular pleasure. Even though pleasure breeds pain, you still go on. You don't say, "This problem cannot be solved through fragmentary thinking at all.'' Since all thinking is fragmentary, what thought has created as the country, the religion, the god, the priest, the king, the queen must all go out! That's the greatest revolution. Can you put away all that completely, without effort, because you see that it produces conflict; it's poison and you don't touch it?

OAK GROVE SCHOOL GETS READY FOR GRADUATION
This time of year brings a lot of transition to everyone on campus. Particularly, our 12th grade students are getting ready for the next step of exploring life. You can read some of their comments below.
Stepping Into The Gap
Although it is a time for celebrating, Oak Grove School must still pay attention to covering the customary gap of 15% to 20% that most private schools face in their operating funds. That's where donors who resonate with the school's founder, purpose, and day-to-day living and learning can make a very large impact.
If you are a champion of the school through your annual donation, or if you just want to lend a hand, consider making a gift now, no matter what the size. Your generosity will help Oak Grove meet its challenges, retain students who need financial help to stay the course, especially now, and will help prepare the campus and its faculty over the summer months so next year starts strong.
You can give in a number of ways, from making a monthly donation in any amount, to sponsoring a scholarship program with a larger gift, to giving your old vehicle as a donation. Oak Grove needs the help to close that gap!
Monthly donation: Here's the link to the Oak Grove School donations page, with a monthly giving option, perhaps the easiest way to make a difference. A donation of just $15 a month is $180 for the year. If everyone who cared about the school could do that, our financial challenges would shrink drastically! Click HERE.
Student sponsorship donation: The school has a very generous financial aid policy, but must spread available funds carefully. Some students really do need a mentor who can bridge the gap where financial aid leaves off and what a few struggling families are facing. Can you make an annual gift to the Oak Grove Scholarship Fund? Take just a few moments, and make a huge difference to a child's life, click HERE.
Donate your vehicle to Oak Grove School: Oak Grove School can now accept your old vehicle as a donation, wherever you live in the United States. You get the tax deduction and Oak Grove gets a monetary contribution. Find out more by clicking HERE.

THE OAK GROVE RETREAT: ALMOST HEAVENLY DURING THE MONTHS OF JUNE AND JULY Visit www.oakgroveretreat.com
The Ojai Valley enjoys superb weather most of the year. Some like it hot ... so August/September are the warm months. May through July, is a wonderful time of transition from spring to summer, and June is blessed with moisture laden on-shore breezes coming up the Valley from the nearby Pacific Ocean. Morning mists dispel by noon into summer sunshine, the fruit trees are laden, and the Sunday Farmers' Market is bursting with tantalizing produce, flowers, honey, local cheeses and breads, and fresh laid eggs.
Just a few minutes drive from downtown Ojai, the newly renovated Oak Grove Retreat offers nine guest rooms, each with bath, wireless and air-conditioning, and complimentary continental breakfast in the mornings. The peaceful gardens and patios are much as Krishnamurti enjoyed them decades ago, while the common room amenities give guests a chance to meet each other, enjoy tea or coffee, or plan a hike through the orchards up to the mountain trails.

For those wishing to dig into the wealth of Krishnamurti's published work, the Krishnamurti Library is located just a two minute walk from the Retreat. Open Thursday through Sunday, from 1pm to 5pm, visitors are welcome to browse the Library in the Great Room, make a purchase from the book store, or simply sit in the Quiet Room (Krishnamurti's former living quarters). The atmosphere is pervasive, with serene views of the surrounding mountains and orchards, and a sense of the edge of the human domain as Ojai's East End transitions into wilderness, marked by the impressive bluffs of the Topa Topa mountain range.

CONTRIBUTING
A non-profit organization relies on contributions to close their funding gap. The KFA is no different. Each year it reaches out to inform its donors, readers, friends and acquaintances of our need to address the funding gap. Your contributions enable our programs to go forward and enable Krishnamurti's pioneering work to be shared in many different ways. If you haven't given yet, we would immensely appreciate a gift in any amount.
Our grateful thanks to everyone who has made donations to the Krishnamurti Foundation and/or Oak Grove School. Going forward, help is still needed to support the three main pillars of the Foundation – Krishnamurti Publications (responsible for all dissemination, digitization, and the new website for free access to the teachings); the new Krishnamurti Education Center (home for our retreat facilities, programs, and the Krishnamurti Archives); and Oak Grove School (founded by Krishnamurti, providing a caring community for pre-K through grade 12 students, fostering mindfulness, understanding, and awareness of self, others, and the world).
